Since 1997, he has worked extensively with Python for numerical and scientific programming, most notably as the primary developer of the NumPy package, and as a founding contributor of the SciPy package. He is also the author of the definitive Guide to NumPy.

About the Authors: Travis Oliphant & Kale Franz

Kale Franz is is the lead developer for the conda project.  He received an undergraduate degree in physics from the Colorado School of Mines and a PhD in electrical engineering from Princeton University.  Kale is a domain expert in the field of quantum cascade lasers, and made infrared semiconductor lasers for the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory immediately after graduate school. Before joining Continuum to lead conda development, Kale was a backend developer and DevOps tech lead at 23andMe.
